Free Flu & COVID Vaccines Available at TN Health Departments and Pharmacies

For the 2025-2026 flu season, the Tennessee Department of Health and its partners are making it easy for residents to get free or low-cost flu and COVID-19 vaccines. This guide provides an overview of where to find a clinic and what you need to bring.

How to Find a Clinic Near You

The best way to find a local clinic is through the official Tennessee Department of Health website, which lists all county health department locations. You can also use the state's consent form portal to search for specific vaccination events.

Where to Get Your Free or Low-Cost Vaccine

Free vaccines are available for uninsured residents, those on Medicaid, children eligible for the VFC program, and seniors on Medicare.

County Health Departments Every county in Tennessee has a local health department offering immunizations. These are the primary providers of no-cost vaccines for the uninsured. Both walk-ins and appointments are often available.
Community Health Centers Local community health centers, like Community Health of East Tennessee (CHET), provide affordable healthcare services, including vaccinations, to underserved populations.
Hospitals and University Medical Centers Providers like Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) and UT Medical Center offer flu shots to patients and the community.
Pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens, etc.) These locations offer free flu shots with most insurance plans and are convenient for walk-in vaccinations. Use Vaccines.gov to find a pharmacy near you.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

  • Photo ID (Recommended).
  • Insurance Card (if you have one).
  • Vaccination Record (especially for children).
  • Parental Consent Form for anyone under 18.
